While I had one baby on me and others in the cradle, I would work 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting close to completing, however it was still a long way off. To furnish the home it would be an enormous undertaking in terms of both time and funds. Also, I had to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for bargains at estate sales. It was a weekly tradition that we would stroll through estate sales and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays and purchase a variety of old and new pieces. I then spent the rest of my time painting and sanding on our front lawn. My first impression was like... This is when my desire to repair furniture began. I continued to work on furniture long after we completed the renovation of our home. There was a place at the local markets that I could sell my items. I could outgrow the area because I had numerous pieces I could use. My house was transformed into a space in which I held open houses where up 1000 people would be able to view items from the first floor, and then purchase them. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. The business I was running was growing however my family was growing too. Being a new mom I was able to strike the right way to be able to begin my own business and also become a great mother. Growing Days just fit. In 2013, my daughter Nora became our fourth child. The direction of my business was excellent, however I had to rest for a while. I took a break from making vintage furniture, and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and raise the children. At the time, it was what I wanted. But after a short time I began to hear my phone to ring. There were calls from people asking me for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. Most of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged house renovation business. I began by taking clients one by one at a pace that I felt comfortable with. Most likely, I'd have laughed had someone had told me the company was to become the premise of an upcoming television show that airs on the DIY Network. In the present, as I look back on this situation I am laughing.
